The French connection

AXA are a global financial services organisation operating in all the major international markets. AXA was formed though a series of mergers and acquisitions involving a number of French insurance companies. For this reason, AXA has its worldwide headquarters in Avenue Matignon, Paris.
And as many of the founding companies had interests in Canada and French speaking Africa, AXA continues to operate in these territories to this day.

AXA bought Guardian Royal Exchange in 1999 and acquired their Irish operation which re-branded to AXA in 2000. Coincidentally, our Dublin Head Office is located over the birth place of Thereobold Wolfe Tone who was heavily influenced by the events that brought about the French Revolution. He spent a considerable amount of time in France before returning to Ireland to lead the 1798 rebellion.
