Each college has its own basic minimum entry – or matriculation – requirements without which no student can be enrolled. In addition many courses require particular grades in certain subjects. This is a master chart of college matriculation and course subject requirements stated in terms of Leaving Certificate subjects at Higher or Ordinary level. Guide to Master Charts
H = Higher Level Leaving Cert
O = Ordinary Level Leaving Cert
A,B,C,D = the particular grade required, a minimum of a 3 unless otherwise stated. Thus, OB = a minimum of B3 on an Ordinary paper, HC = a minimum of C3 on a Higher paper.
Language = a language other than English, where not otherwise specified one or more languages are required. Science = one or more science subjects required. Science is defined differently for different courses – e.g. sometimes it includes agricultural science and technological subjects, sometimes not. Check college brochures.
