The Work of a Town Planner
A key part of any development is careful planning. Ireland in the 21st centruty is embarking on many vital infrastructural developments. The key to their success lies in the creation of a National Spatial Strategy, to ensure balances and sustainable development throughout all regions of the state. It is the role of the town planner to aid the process at local, regional and national levels.
Town planners work with city and county managers in assessing planning applications and in drawing up development plans, trying to integrate a wide variety of conflicting elements to ensure Ireland is best served by their decisions, so that any development undertaken will be both beneficial and sustainable.
There is a legal requirement for this, both at a national and european leval and town planners are in great demand, especially at local authority level.
